What is extrusion?

For the production of pellets, a dough is made. All dry ingredients are smoothly mixed and afterwards, water is added. The dough is then transported to the extruder. The is a tube which is heated to approx. 90 – 140°C. At the end of the extruder you have a mold and cutter, they define the shape of the pellet. Before cutting certain oils and fats can be added. Due to the high heath, the pellets expand. Afterwards the pellets go to a dryer.
